Catapult for Hire is on Kickstarter!

Catapult for Hire is a game that I'd heard a lot about over the last several months. When I ran across it on Kickstarter, I was really psyched - it means the game is getting closer to release! Tyrone, the developer, lovingly calls it a Nintendo 64 era world, and he's absolutely right - the art and aesthetic are reminiscent of games like Banjo Kazooie or Ocarina of Time in the very best of ways.



Catapult for Hire puts you in the shoes of Sir Knottingsforth and his catapult. This is no simple Angry Birds clone, though, Catapult for Hire is a gigantic adventure game... WITH A CATAPULT! If you watch that video, you'll see a scene where you hit a button that opens a gate, launch a teleporter to end up inside, fire several different types of rounds to open up another area and then fire through a series of rotating gates to complete the area.

Tyrone promises (taken from the Kickstarter page) "a campaign with an insane amount of variety. Compete in the colosseum to gain renown (like exp). Explore sprawling catacombs, play catapult-golf or go fishing to find rare ingredients for crafting." Did you read that sentence? FISHING! WITH A CATAPULT!

Finally, the game gets a big check-plus in one of my most vital categories - a sense of humor. There's a wonderful, Earthboundian, Tim Shaffer-y (Brutal Legend, Psychonauts, etc) humor at work that I can't wait to see more of.

The fact that the game isn't already 800% funded is an insult to the creativity and potential this game has to offer, and if you pick the game up during the Kickstarter, it's 33% off the regular price of $15.
